Hernando County speed traps on Mariner in Brooksville Florida

Hernando Today - Online Edition: "alert the hundreds of motorists who use Mariner Boulevard what a great speed trap is on this street.
When this road was a two-lane road the speed limit was 40 mph. When it was opened, the traffic department just moved the speed limit signs and kept the old limit.
Therefore all of Mariner's speed limit is 45, even around Northcliffe and yet as soon as you get to St. Augustine (going north) or Elgin Boulevard (going south}, it is reduced to 40 mph.
The sheriff knows this, but of course this make great income for the county.
I wonder how many drivers have paid a fine thanks to the great traffic engineers in Hernando County. "

Radar cop Chris Knox has a bead on the lead-footed. Detectors? Save your money -- even they're too slow.
By Ralph Vartabedian, Times Staff Writer

If you search the Internet for radar detectors, you'll find 11 million pages on these little devices that help speeders avoid traffic tickets.

None of them may thwart Chris Knox, a veteran radar cop on the Palos Verdes peninsula who is hunting for the lead-footed owners of sports cars and the absent-minded parent rushing the kids to a soccer game. There's an excellent chance he'll catch them, judging from the evening I recently spent on speed patrol with him."
